ICOM Inc. Japan

Icom have been manufacturing amateur radio products for over 25 years, and during this time they have gained a lot of experience. They are one of the three main market leaders and have a long-standing reputation for quality, innovation and design. Many earlier models were household names among radio amateurs. Remember the IC-240, the IC-2E, the contest winning IC-202?.. In 1995 they introduced the incredible IC-706, world leader in mobiles. And improved on the unimprovable by introducing the MarkII version earlier this year.

What's New?

As you will have seen from the home page Icom have added, very recently, a computer controlled, all band receiver to the range, IC-PCR1000. Already this is proving to be very popular, with our first shipments being sold out before they had arrived! More stock is on its way but you may need to be patient if you want one.

What Else?

Well, in addition to the PCR1000, ICOM Inc. showed for the first time, their new HF - VHF all mode transceiver. ICOM had taken a stand at the prestigious JAIA amateur radio rally and took the opportunity to present the IC-746. Little real technical detail has been released yet and the price for UK amateurs is still to be finalised but details as we have them are given below.

IC-746 Outline Specification

WOW! 100 watts on HF, 6 meters AND 2 meters! IF-DSP, too!

More fun for EVERY ham! ICOM's newest HF rig makes it easy to open up more areas of amateur radio, like moonbounce and meteor scatter, to no-code techs. Plus, with solar cycle 23 gearing up, all hams will be able to take advantage of better HF propagation conditions, night AND day!
